Day 1: A

Through my studies I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts but my love for all things artistic began at an early age. My mom has always joked that "I came out of the womb with a crayon in hand!" While I don't think I was truly that gifted (mom's are partial you know) but I can say that as long as I can remember art has been a big part of my life.

I've tried my hand at charcoal, pencil, acrylic, computers and cameras. The ability to express myself creatively has always been something I am extremely grateful for. Today I'm going to share a few of my favorite artists as a way of showing my gratitude for the arts.

Penelope Dullaghan
Found her work about five years ago and she's become my favorite living artist. There is not a single work of hers I've seen that I don't completely love.

Mary Stewart
Sadly this artist passed away a few years ago. But I was fortunate enough to have her do a commissioned art work as a gift for my husband. "The Insect Ball" was illustrated for us after sending her photos of the two of us and she sent me a once in a lifetime piece of art. Her whimsical works are just amazing.

Candice Alexander
I was introduce to Candice's work about 6 or 7 years ago when she was just getting her studio going and I was lucky enough to aquire original, hand painted engravings before her inevitable fame. Now she is a sought after artist throughout Louisiana and the south.

What "A" things are you grateful for?
