It saddens me to see so many great magazines fading away. A sad sign of the times. Today Gourmet magazine announced it will be closing. The mag has been an establishment since 1940...quite a feat for any publication. I'm surely going to miss its glossy pages, tasty recipes and amazing, amazing photography. I've put together a little fall feast for the eyes as a way to celebrate the legendary Gourmet mag.

This makes me very, very sad. I'm such a magazine junkie and it appears that before I know it I won't have many options to choose from. I certainly hope the talented folks behind the four mags folded find something even better. What a sad sign of the times :-(
ReplyDeleteCyndi, as you know I'm right there with ya on the magazine junkie bit. I feel the same way! If the industry keeps heading in the direction its going there will be so few options. I LOVE blogs obviously but there is something that I really appreciate about the tangible quality of magazines...curling up with one, tearing out pages, the glossy prints. Can't be replaced. I just hope it doesn't disappear....
ReplyDeleteGratefully yours,

What?? I just heard. And I just renewed my subscription. That is happening to me a lot these days. It is really sad. I still haven't gotten over Domino.
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad. I know that mag and I have browsed through it every now and then.
ReplyDeleteLove this magazine. At least there's still the website :)
ReplyDeleteOh no Mommy of Three! I'm sure like most mags they will offer some sort of "consolation" prize for those with subscription time left. Keep your eyes open.

Lindsey,
ReplyDeleteThey just replace the magazine I loved with something else and so far it has been 3 strikes! The consolation magazines are just not ones I read, and usually rather strange and not that great.
Oh well, I am a magazine addict, so I will just keep finding ones I like.
Thanks for your concern!
Greta (Mommy of 3)
