DIY Sunburst Mirror

I've always, always wanted a sunburst mirror. Always!

Over the last couple months I've been redoing our living room. Kept the couch and chairs, incorporated some new pieces, did some painting and finished things of with a bit of accessorizing. But I'm done yet...I've been dreaming of a sunburst mirror.

And NOW I've found a way to DIY (or DIM I guess, do it myself) a sunburst mirror.
Humble materials and a little paint can go a long way. A long way that does not look handmade (that's key!) I can't wait to try this out.
Stay tuned...

Headband Happy

A few months ago I bookmarked a fun headband tutorial on Rachel's blog because I am quite obsessed with hair accessories. After browsing her site some more (okay spending way to much time looking at every single thing, if I'm being honest) I found she has a bunch of easy (read: no sew) headband instructions. And if you aren't the DIY type she opened up an etsy store too. I want to set aside a whole day to get crafty and these are on the top of my list.

Pet Pouches

One of my goals for this year is to exercise more and get in better shape. As a small step in the right direction we've been going on walks with our doggie (almost) every night. It is a mile walk, so not too difficult but it's a good start. Each night I bring my cell phone and keys and sometimes I don't have pockets. This pouch from the b-line was created to hold plastic baggies but I think it may also be the solution for my keys. Now I just need to learn to sew!

P.S. Isn't her doggy beautiful?
P.S. Part 2: Sorry I haven't been the best blogger this week, things have been busy!

I Heart Fabric Poms

Found this fabric pom tutorial yesterday and knew I had to share. This version of the popular "pom craze" would be perfect for a more permanent decor in a child's room or office. Aren't they lovely?

Christmas Elves

I did a little Christmas crafting this weekend, inspired by these pinecone elves. It was really fun and kind of brought out the child in me. These cute little guys are now hanging out in our living room and I smile each time I see them--jolly lil ones!

I followed these directions and changed them up a bit for my preference. Instead of bells I made felted poms and I used extra pipe cleaners for accents. I also improvised a fun collar on one elf. I made sure to use a pipe cleaner inside of their hats, shoes and mittens for bendability (is that a word) and easy posing.

These cuties were easy + fun and the supplies are inexpensive. They'd make a cute decoration for gifts and a fun activity to do with your children too. Enjoy!

DIY Pretties

As a lover of all things girly and frilly, the DIY kits from Bustle on Etsy are up my alley. You can make your own flowery brooches with her instructions and materials. Don't you think these pretty pins would be perfect for adorning fall blazers and coats? If you are not a crafty person don't worry she sells the ready made brooches too in her shop Deciduous Soul.

Flowery Tables

This popped up in my inbox via Martha Stewart's "Craft of the Day" and I thought it was too cute not to share! Magnetic Flowers allow you to dress up and change up your tablecloth. Such an easy, inexpensive and creative way to add a little pretty to any occasion.

Creative Painting

I am so inspired by people who get creative with paint. Paint's an inexpensive and easy fix for a dull room and it is easy to change if your mind does. I spotted this gorgeous room redo on Design Sponge and am totally impressed. I love the Aspen trees she hand painted and that color of gray is so pretty. The little pops of yellow and expanses of white make the room bright and cheery. Makes me want to pull out my paintbrush!

Fairy House

As a kid I would have thought this fairy house was so magical and fantastic. As an adult I still do! What a great project to do with kids (or alone, no one will judge). And if that isn't enough cuteness, can you imagine a tiny house furnished like this? Amazing!

Tall Cupcakes

You never can have enough cupcakes! Sugarbloom bakery sells tall cupcakes that can be sliced...perfect for sharing and what a cute gift idea too! If you aren't nearby this bakery (in Australia) it's okay because they've put up a tutorial on how to make these yourself. You can customize the cupcakes for any theme or occasion you see fit. I'd never seen anything like this and think anyone who received one of these would be thrilled--I know I would!

Basket Pendant

I signed up for this fun swap and in turn was introduced to this blog. I'm so impressed by her DIY wicker pendant! Makes me think of endless possibilities for customizing lighting. Who knew it was so easy!? It looks straight out of Pottery Barn and I bet it was way cheaper!

Violets

These little violet pin cushions are so sweet! And the detailed tutorial makes them makeable for anyone. I may have to try my hand at these but they are almost too cute to stick!
